When looking at the long-term future of the company he formed almost 20 years ago, Managing Director, Charlie Strafford, turned to Yorkshire based Castle Square Corporate Finance to provide a Company Valuation and advice on moving to an Employee Ownership Trust.
All-but-one of the Senior Management Team at C& D Electrical Contractors Limited, based in Chesterfield, have been in post for a number of years and have taken the company through the pandemic to be stronger than ever moving into 2026.
Specialising in mechanical and electrical construction for the student accommodation sector, Charlie wanted to ensure that his management team and employees were empowered to take the reigns when he decided the time was right to plan his exit strategy.
Charlie, and equal shareholder wife Emma, turned to Joe Potts of Castle Square for advice and a Company Valuation which could be used in the sale of a controlling equity stake in the Company to an EOT.
Joe added “I am happy to have supported Charlie and Emma in their sale to an EOT. The Company has a great reputation in the market, and I look forward to seeing it grow through the empowerment of the employees.”
The transition to EOT was supported by lawyers Phil Jordan and Grace Draycott of Taylor Emmett.
Phil said “Transitioning to an Employee Ownership Trust can be a powerful way for business owners to protect the legacy they’ve built while securing the future of the people who have helped make the business a success.
It was a pleasure to support Charlie and Emma through the process and work alongside the team at Castle Square to ensure the transition was smooth and carefully structured.
C&D Electrical Contractors has a strong management team and a clear vision for the future, and we’re proud to have helped put the foundations in place for the next stage of the company’s journey under employee ownership.”
